Horry County Regional Office

Horry County is in the PeeDee Region of South Carolina. It is the easternmost county in South Carolina and home to the well known city of Myrtle Beach. It is also the fourth most populous county in the state with approximately 160 kids experiencing foster care.
While transforming the Horry County DSS office, we also brought some love and warmth to the Horry County Regional Office and installed a brand new Lily Pad there.
This spaces sees many sibling groups, so we knew it needed to be functional for multiple children at a time. What was once a plain office with desks and chairs is now a cozy, welcoming room filled with everything kids need to feel safe and card for.
With a queen size pull out sofa and an extra rollaway bed there is plenty of sleep space. In addition to all of the standard Lily Pad items: books, sensory toys, weighted blankets, TVs with a Nintendo Switch and DVD player, and coloring supplies, we also included a play kitchen and basketball hoop for siblings to enjoy together.
We were able to share this finished space with Tony Catone, newly appointed State Director of South Carolina DSS, while he was in town for the ribbon cutting at the DSS office. We are grateful for his support of our work at Lily Pad and look forward to continue growing a working relationship with him.
